Trade relations between Egypt and France continued to strengthen in 2024, with the total volume of trade reaching $2.9 billion, up from $2.5 billion in 2023, according to data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

Egyptian exports to France saw notable growth, reaching $1 billion in 2024 compared to $855.4 million in 2023.

The increase was driven by strong performance in several key sectors, including electrical machinery and equipment, which led the way with exports worth $248 million.

Fertilizer exports followed closely at $194 million, while fuel and mineral oils contributed $158 million. Exports of fruits and vegetables amounted to $75 million, and ready-made garments added another $73 million to the total.

On the import side, Egypt brought in goods worth $1.8 billion from France in 2024, slightly higher than the $1.7 billion recorded in the previous year.

Pharmaceuticals were the top import category, totaling $302 million. This was followed by cereals at $183 million, and vehicles, tractors, and motorcycles at $115 million.

Imports of iron and its related products stood at $100 million, while various chemical products accounted for $99 million.

Investment flows between the two countries showed a downward trend. French investments in Egypt were valued at $483.8 million during the fiscal year 2023/2024, a decline from $591.3 million the year before.

Similarly, Egyptian investments in France dropped to $238.3 million in 2023/2024, down from $284.2 million in 2022/2023. Despite the dip in investment, the steady growth in trade underscores the deepening economic ties between Egypt and France.
