Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, and Abdulaziz bin Salman, Minister of Energy of Saudi Arabia, signed agreement to establish an executive plan for energy efficiency cooperation between the two countries.
This was in the presence of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on the sidelines of the Egypt International Energy Conference (EGYPES 2025).
The collaboration between Egypt and Saudi Arabia seeks to establish a national energy efficiency program in Egypt.
Both countries will work together to develop and implement the program, leveraging Saudi expertise and technical support.
The partnership will focus on defining methodologies, mechanisms, and action plans to enhance energy efficiency at the national level in Egypt.
Under this agreement, Egypt and Saudi Arabia will exchange knowledge and technical support to improve energy efficiency. This includes developing technical specifications and standards to ensure compliance with energy efficiency regulations.
Additionally, both sides will work on building human capacity through training programs and workshops.
Furthermore, the agreement aims to enhance infrastructure and services related to energy efficiency projects.
It will also facilitate financing and investment opportunities to support energy efficiency initiatives, ensuring their successful implementation.
As part of this collaboration, Egypt and Saudi Arabia will explore the establishment of a specialized joint entity focused on developing and implementing renewable energy efficiency projects in Egypt.
This initiative will be carried out in cooperation with the Saudi Tarshid Company, a leader in energy efficiency solutions.
To ensure the successful execution of this partnership, both countries have agreed to establish a joint mechanism to oversee the implementation process.
Additionally, specialized technical teams will be formed, with each team responsible for different aspects of the cooperation.
