Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, announced that the government is finalizing a new social protection package, which will be presented to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi before Ramadan for approval, in a press conference.

Madbouly also pointed out that wages and salaries will increase in the upcoming fiscal year.

He added that Egypt’s inflation rates continue to decline, with a significant drop expected in February.

Government's plan for comprehensive customs reform

Madbouly also stated that the government is evaluating 29 different measures to reform the customs system, aiming to enhance efficiency and reduce clearance times.

Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan El-Khatib, reinforced this by noting that the government is working towards achieving a two-day customs clearance target.

To facilitate this, efforts have been initiated to strengthen the presence of key entities across all centers, expand logistical hubs, implement white lists, and streamline inspections through unified committees.

Additionally, Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk revealed plans to issue a multilingual procedural guide as part of customs modernization efforts, along with upgrading the hotline service.

He also announced the implementation of a risk management system for exports and the establishment of customs warehouses to optimize trade operations.

Gas and Energy Sector Updates

Madbouly highlighted that the government is closely monitoring developments in the Zohr gas field as part of ongoing efforts to restore normal production rates.

He also stated that officials from Eni, the Italian energy company, anticipate new gas discoveries in Egypt within the next two years, further strengthening the country’s position in the energy sector.

Investment and Job Creation

Madbouly noted that Egypt continues to be a regional hub for outsourcing and information technology, with 180 international companies operating in the sector and providing job opportunities for Egyptians.
