Egypt’s car imports decline to $163.7M in September 2024

Total imports of passenger cars reached $1.692 billion between January and August, up from $1.155 billion during the same period in 2023, an increase of $536.623 million.

Egypt’s car imports declined to $163.755 million in September 2024, down from $218.854 million in the same month last year, a decrease of $55.099 million, according to the latest data released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization ( CAPMAS).

However, passenger car imports saw a significant surge from the beginning of this year until August, compared to the same period in 2023.

 Total imports of passenger cars reached $1.692 billion between January and August, up from $1.155 billion during the same period in 2023, an increase of $536.623 million.

Egypt's passenger car imports have fluctuated notably throughout 2024, alternating between rises and declines.

 For instance, imports recorded a significant drop in August, amounting to $156.088 million, compared to $217.638 million in the same month of 2023, marking a decline of $61.550 million.

In December, CAPMAS revealed that Egypt’s trade balance deficit amounted to $4.40 billion in September 2024, compared to $3.58 billion in the same month of 2023, reflecting a 22.8% increase.

The value of exports rose by 10.2%, reaching $3.46 billion in September 2024, compared to $3.14 billion in September 2023.

Imports increased by 16.9%, reaching $7.86 billion in September 2024, compared to $6.72 billion in the same month of the previous year.
