Egypt’s core inflation rate declines to 23.7% in November

This marks the third consecutive month of decline in the annual core inflation rate, highlighting a continued downward trend.

Egypt’s annual core inflation rate fell to 23.7% in November 2024, down from 24.4% in October, according to the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).  
 
This marks the third consecutive month of decline in the annual core inflation rate, highlighting a continued downward trend.  
 
The CBE reported that the monthly core Consumer Price Index (CPI) recorded a rise of 0.4% in November 2024, compared to 1% in November 2023 and 1.3% in October 2024. 
 
Core inflation excludes volatile items to provide a clearer view of long-term price trends.  
 
Data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) showed a drop in Egypt's annual headline inflation rate to 25% in November 2024, compared to 26.3% in October. This is the first decrease in the headline inflation rate in three months.  
 
Additionally, Egypt’s monthly urban headline inflation recorded an increase of 0.5% in November 2024, compared to 1.3% in November 2023 and 1.1% in October 2024.
