Norway’s Empower New Energy & Majid Al Futtaim Group to implement solar energy project in Egypt

President AbdelFattah El-Sisi witnessed the signing ceremony of a contract between Norway’s Empower New Energy and Majid Al Futtaim Group to implement a solar energy project in Egypt for industrial purposes.

This came during a meeting between El-Sisi met with the CEOs of Norway’s Empower New Energy and Golar LNG, as well as the CEO of the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) and the CEO of the Norwegian-African Business Association.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the President’s official visit to Norway during his European tour.

The Presidential Spokesperson, Mohamed El-Shinawy, stated that the meeting discussed ways to strengthen investment cooperation between Egypt and the relevant Norwegian entities and companies.

 Key policies implemented by the Egyptian government in relation to its economic development plan were reviewed, highlighting the significant importance Egypt places on empowering the private sector and attracting more foreign direct investments.

The Presidential Spokesperson noted that President El-Sisi emphasized during the meeting that developing the renewable energy sector is a priority for Egypt.

He highlighted the country’s capabilities in this field, including natural resources and infrastructure. The President referred to Egypt’s national strategy to increase reliance on renewable energy sources, expressing his appreciation for the ongoing cooperation with Empower and related Norwegian companies.

He also indicated Egypt’s eagerness to enhance this cooperation and open new horizons for mutual benefit.

The spokesperson added that the meeting also addressed opportunities to enhance trilateral cooperation in Africa to support the continent’s development efforts.

They reviewed the role played by Egyptian companies in Africa and the possibility of leveraging Egyptian expertise to provide joint and tangible support to the continent and its peoples.
