Egypt’s total imports of passenger cars amounted to $ 1.13 billion during the first 5 months of 2024, an increase from $ 548 million in the same period of 2023, an increase amounting to about $ 583.9 million, according to a report released by Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

According to CAPMAS, Egypt’s imports of cars have jumped significantly in the recent period, to record $169.7 million in April, up from $92.8 million in April 2023, an increase of about $ 76.9 million.
The Increase in car imports comes in conjunction with the increase witnessed in the car import index since the beginning of the current year 2024, as car imports in March recorded about $152 million, compared to $94.8 million in the same month in 2023, with an increase amounting to about $57.1 million.
The Egyptian imports decreased by 5.1% in May 2024, reaching $7.38 billion down from $7.77 billion for the same month of the previous year, according to CAPMAS.
