Egypt collaborates with Jordan to advance digital field

Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information, Amr Talaat, met Jordan’s Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Ahmad Hanandeh to enhance cooperation in digital transformation.

This Meeting came during the 32nd session of the Egyptian-Jordanian Joint Higher Committee’s ministerial meeting.

Minister Talaat advocated for the development of Arab software systems using open-source programs to improve government performance and service delivery.

Talaat highlighted the need for knowledge sharing and cooperation in AI, recognizing its role in addressing common challenges. Additionally, he emphasized the significance of collaboration in the field of digital gaming.

He supported the establishment of Arab digital gaming systems and the promotion of digital sports teams through competitions, particularly for emerging companies.

Furthermore, Talaat stressed the necessity of a robust legislative framework to regulate the use of AI and expand cooperation in submarine cables and postal services.

In March 2021, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information,  and Jordanian Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship to advance cooperation and exchange experiences in digital field.

The objective of this agreement is to strengthen collaboration in various areas including digital infrastructure, transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), capacity building, innovation, cybersecurity, and regulatory frameworks. The focus will also be on investing in these sectors.
