Egypt is exporting potatoes to the Moroccan market and strawberries to the Canadian markets, as part of the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation's efforts to open new international markets for Egyptian agricultural products.

According to a statement issued by the agriculture ministry, the Moroccan National Office of Food Safety (ONSSA) approved the imports of Egypt’s potato crops. All procedures for opening Canadian markets to strawberry exports were completed and all technical requirements for the Canadian side were met.

According to data from the ministry, Egyptian agricultural exports exceeded 2.2 million tons of agricultural products worth almost $1.5 billion during the first quarter of 2024. This marks an increase of $300 million compared to the same period in 2023.

Agricultural exports are currently the second largest source of Egyptian national income in foreign exchange, according to the General Authority for Control of Exports and Imports report at the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
