Egypt's core inflation rate drops to 33.7% in March 2024

Core inflation excludes certain volatile categories from consideration.

Egypt's annual core inflation rate decreased to 33.7% in March 2024, down from 35.1% in February 2024, as reported by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).
 
The CBE disclosed that Egypt's monthly core Consumer Price Index (CPI) for March 2024 was 1.4%, compared to 2.5% in the same month last year and 13.2% in February 2024.

Data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) revealed a drop in Egypt's annual urban consumer price inflation rate to 33.1% in March, down from 36% in February.
 
Egypt's general Consumer Price Index (CPI) stood at 221.6 points in March 2024, with a monthly inflation rate of 1%, contrasting with 11% in February 2024.
