Joint Egyptian-Jordanian Higher Committee strengthens bilateral relations for new opportunities: MOICMin

Minister of International Cooperation, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat chaired today’s Joint Egyptian-Jordanian Higher Committee for Egypt’s side, where she reviewed the results of the preparatory experts’ meetings held on March 20 in the Jordanian capital in preparation for the 29th Joint Egyptian-Jordanian Higher Committee.

Al-Mashat noted that the activities of the Joint Egyptian-Jordanian Higher Committee would be reflected in strengthening bilateral relations between Egypt and Jordan, opening new and ambitious horizons for joint cooperation.

This comes within the framework of the activities of the Joint Egyptian-Jordanian Higher Committee, whose final meeting is scheduled to take place tomorrow, on Tuesday, in the Jordanian capital Amman, headed by Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, and Dr. Beshr Al-Khasawneh, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Jordan, within the framework of strengthening economic, commercial and investment relations between the two countries.

Several documents in the areas of international cooperation, water resources, irrigation, electricity, as well as those focused on improving bilateral cooperation, are to be signed as part of the final committee meeting’s activities after agreements and understandings were reached today.  

These also included agreements on developing joint relations in other areas such as social insurance, trade, agriculture and transportation.

Al-Mashat highlighted her ministry’s eagerness to work with various ministries and relevant authorities to agree on the details of joint cooperation documents with the Jordanian side, as well as the opinions that were exchanged during the coordination meeting held in Cairo last February to reach clear mechanisms.

That meeting was to prepare for the 29th Joint Egyptian-Jordanian Higher Committee, and to discuss details and technical features of the documents proposed to be signed in various fields. These documents aimed to enhance joint economic, trade and investment relations.

Al-Mashat indicated that the Egyptian-Jordanian Ministerial Follow-up Committee will be held in Amman during the first half of 2022, praising the regular holding of the joint Egyptian-Jordanian Higher Committee meetings beginning in the eighties of the last century, which resulted in a number of cooperation protocols, agreements and documents. In various areas of cooperation, which was reflected in the strength of the joint relations.

For her part, Eng. Maha Ali, Jordanian Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, praised the fruitful results of the preparatory meetings at the expert level to reach the drafting of cooperation documents to be signed tomorrow at the conclusion of the Higher Committee's meetings, and expressed her aspiration to start following up and implementing what is being done. Reaching agreements that would enhance joint cooperation relations between Jordan and Egypt.

The Joint Higher Committees is considered one of the most important tools for economic diplomacy at the Ministry of International Cooperation.

It is also the most effective one for establishing new bilateral cooperation between the Arab Republic of Egypt and neighboring Arab countries. The Ministry of International Cooperation supervises the preparation and organization of these committees at the ministerial and expert level.
