Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, Osama Rabie met with French Ambassador to Egypt, Eric Chevalier to discuss ways of cooperation.
Ambassador Chevalier stressed France's keenness to boost cooperation with the Suez Canal Authority, given the canal’s importance as an essential link serving the global trade movement between East and West.
This marks the first official visit of Ambassador Eric Chevalier to the Suez Canal Authority after assuming his duties as Ambassador of France in Egypt.
Chevalier also expressed his hope that the situation in the Red Sea region would stabilize and that the order of global supply chains would return to normal. He emphasized the importance of the Suez Canal for the French maritime shipping traffic especially for the French shipping line CMA CGM.
During the meeting, Rabie stressed the strategic relations between Egypt and France at all levels, expressing his aspiration to open new horizons for cooperation to enhance economic and cultural rapprochement between the two countries and consolidate bilateral relations.
The Chairman of the Authority confirmed that the Suez Canal is adopting a package of projects based on the localization of the industry of building various marine units in the authority’s arsenals and companies. The authority is also working on the development of new maritime services to meet the requirements of passing ships and developing yacht marinas as part of Egypt’s plan to encourage yacht tourism.
The French ambassador explained that the future holds promising opportunities for joint cooperation with the Suez Canal Authority, which comes at the top of the priorities of the work agenda during the coming period.
