6 Egyptian companies made their way onto this year’s Forbes Middle East’s top 100 Arab family businesses that are either owned or run by Arab families.

Topping the list of Egyptian companies was Mansour Group in the 3rd spot, with Elsewedy Electric in the 54th spot, El Araby Group in the 59th spot. Followed them were Hassan Allam Holding in the 74th spot, GB Corp in the 92th spot and Morshedy Group in the 99th spot.

GCC families snagged the most spots in the family business space, with 34 of the 100 family businesses coming from Saudi Arabia, 28 from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and 7 businesses each from Qatar and Kuwait.

Forbes ranked the family businesses based on: size and value of the businesses they hold, including listed entities, real estate and hospitality assets, and revenues from other holdings and business activity in the last year, including IPOs, new project launches, and new investments.

The ranking also considers how diversified the business is in terms of sectors and geographies, performance of their key businesses and the sectors in which they operate, age and legacy of the company and number of total employees.
