The Cabinet's statement highlighted the intention to establish a dedicated national entity specifically focused on this matter.
The Committee will be responsible for implementing the national institutional framework in line with the requirements of the international strategy for disaster risk reduction. It will formulate policies and national frameworks pertaining to crisis, disaster management, and risk reduction at the national level.
Furthermore, the committee will develop mechanisms to integrate climate-related hazard reduction, both current and future climate change, into disaster risk reduction programs and adaptation plans.
It will ensure that risk management associated with natural disasters is taken into account in these programs and plans.
