Suez Canal & Netherlands discuss cooperation in green transformation sector

The Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA), Osama Rabie, met with Ambassador of the Netherlands to Egypt, Peter Mollema, to enhance cooperation across training and green transformation.

The chairman of SCA highlighted the implementation of an ambitious business strategy focused on enhancing the navigational services offered by the canal. This strategy revolves around four key aspects: enhancing the canal's navigational path, improving the maritime fleet, optimizing asset utilization, and embracing digital transformation.

He reviewed the latest developments in the southern sector development project which aims to increase the canal’s navigational safety by 28%.

Mollema stressed the strength of the strategic relations between the two countries. Additionally, he emphasized the importance that the Suez Canal represents as the main link between Europe and Asia supporting global trade.

Latest trade ministry figures show that the volume of trade exchange between both countries increased 15.7% in 2021 amounting to $1.759 billion, compared to $1.52 billion in 2020.
