Minister of International Cooperation (MoIC), Rania Al-Mashat, held a meeting with Director General of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, Patricia Danzi, to prepare for the joint cooperation program between the Egyptian and Swiss sides for the period 2025-2028.

The purpose of this program is to address governance, human rights, green growth, youth skills development, protection issues, and migration.

It was emphasized that the new program will build upon the existing Swiss cooperation program, which has been in effect from 2021 to 2024.

During the meeting, Al-Mashat presented the goals of Egypt's Country Platform for the Nexus of Water, Food, and Energy (NWFE) Program, including promoting comprehensive development in Egypt, addressing climate change impacts through mitigation and adaptation projects, and implementing water desalination initiatives.

She added that the program also aims to support small farmers in adapting to climate change, enhance agricultural productivity and incomes with modern technology and clean energy, and mobilize $14.7 billion in investments through innovative financing tools.

The meeting also looked into mobilizing efforts to help the displaced people affected by the regional situation, as the Swiss side supports the Egyptian Red Crescent, through a contribution of 4 million Swiss francs.

Danzi expressed her appreciation for Egypt's effective role in providing humanitarian aid to the residents of Gaza, noting that Switzerland has disbursed an additional amount of $102 million in response to the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
