Egypt climbed 8 places in the global business process outsourcing (BPO) industry, from the 11th place in 2022 to the 3rd place in 2023, according to the Offshore BPO Confidence Index, evaluated by Ryan Strategic Advisory.

This reflects Egypt’s growth in the outsourcing industry in light of the interest of many international companies operating in this promising industry to invest in Egypt. He added that within a year, a group of agreements were signed with major international and local specialized companies to establish centers to export information technology services to their customers abroad, starting from Egypt.

The Offshore BPO Confidence Index 2023 report provides insights into operations across key global outsourcing locations.

The evaluation covers seven categories: Local Labor Market, Infrastructure, Commercial Property, BPO Ecosystem, Political Stability, Public Security, and Economic Stability. Egypt excels across all seven categories, earning 83.8% confidence rating.

Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat explained that the communications and information technology sector is one of the highest growing sectors in Egypt for 5 consecutive years.

Talaat added that the sector is no longer a service sector whose work is limited only to implementing digital infrastructure and applying digital solutions to increase the efficiency of institutions, but its activity has expanded to a production and export sector, and the volume of digital exports to Egypt increased to reach $4.9 billion.

He also added that the Information Technology Industry Development Authority (ITIDA) aims to double the volume of exports of information technology products and services and increase the number of independent professionals and specialists working in the outsourcing industry. ITIDA has goals to reach 550,000 specialists and provide services with an export value of up to $9 billion in 2026.
