Passenger car sales grows by 15% growth in September | AMIC

The AMIC report also showed that during the first nine months of 2023, auto car sales declined by about 61% to almost 45 thousand cars

The Automotive Market Information Council (AMIC) issued a report showing that car sales numbers in Egypt increased by 15% in September 2023 compared to September 2022. In September 2023, 7,887 vehicles were sold compared to 6,835 vehicles in September 2022.

The AMIC report also showed that during the first nine months of 2023, auto car sales declined by about 61% to almost 45 thousand cars, compared to 117 thousand cars in the first nine months of last year.

Bus sales saw significant growth, rising about 39% to 689 units, while truck sales slightly declined by almost 1%.

Earlier in September, The Egyptian Cabinet issued a draft law to relaunch the zero-customs car import initiative for expats for three months. The initiative allows expats to import one personal-use vehicle to Egypt without customs duties or taxes, raised almost $900 million to Egypt.

In August, Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) reported that the value of passenger vehicles imported to Egypt witnessed a 124% year on year increase to record $209.8 million.
