Trade exchange bet. Egypt, Jordan hits $980.4M in 2022

Trade exchange between Egypt and Jordan experienced a 7.1% increase in 2022, with trade reaching $980.4 million, a rise from the $915.8 million in 2021, as reported by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
 
CAPMAS indicated that Egyptian exports to Jordan hit $726.5 million in 2022, compared to $711.1 million in 2021, marking a growth of 2.2%. 
 
Meanwhile, Egyptian imports from Jordan reached $253.9 million in 2022, showing a substantial surge of 24% compared to the $204.7 million in 2021.
 
In terms of the primary goods Egypt exported to Jordan in 2022, fuel and mineral oils led with a value of $155 million, followed by vegetables and fruits at $69 million, electrical machinery and appliances at $55 million, prepared vegetables and fruits at $42 million, and ceramic products at $34 million.
 
As for the main commodity groups imported by Egypt from Jordan in 2022, fertilizers led the way with a value of $143 million, trailed by pharmaceutical products at $24 million, aluminum and related products at $13 million, plastic materials and products at $12 million, and chemical products at $7 million.
 
Remittances from Egyptian expatriates in Jordan reached $792.9 million during the fiscal year 2021-2022, showcasing an increase of 2.4% from the $774.2 million in the fiscal year 2020-2021. In contrast, remittances from Jordanians working in Egypt amounted to $9.6 million during the fiscal year 2021-2022, down from $12.7 million in the fiscal year 2020-2021, marking a decrease of 24.3%.
 
Egypt's population was documented at 104.5 million in 2022, whereas Jordan's population stood at 11.3 million in the same year. The estimated number of Egyptians residing in Jordan, according to mission estimations, reached 900,000 by the conclusion of 2022.
