Egypt's New Valley Governorate implements 206 development projects worth EGP 3.9B

This is in addition to projects directed through the Egyptian rural development project "Decent Life".

Egypt's Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Hala El-Said, has announced the implementation of 206 development projects in New Valley Governorate with total public investments of EGP 3.9 billion in the fiscal year 2022/2023.

This is in addition to projects directed through the Egyptian rural development project "Decent Life", which included 26 villages in New Valley Governorate benefiting 34,000 people in the first phase of the initiative.

The announcement was made in a report by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development on the citizen investment plan for New Valley Governorate for the fiscal year 2022/2023. This is part of an ongoing effort to announce the citizen plan in all governorates for the fourth year in a row. The aim is to raise awareness among citizens about the priorities and directions of the sustainable development plan for the fiscal year 2022/2023 and its role in achieving "Egypt Vision 2030".

According to the ministry's report, the targeted public investments in New Valley Governorate for the fiscal year 2022/2023 are distributed across sectors, with the housing sector receiving investments worth EGP 956.4 million, or 24.5%. The local development sector receives EGP 538.9 million, or 13.7%, while higher education and scientific research receive EGP 431 million, or 11%. Pre-university education receives EGP 134 million, or 3%. The water resources and irrigation sector receives EGP 105.1 million, or 2.6%, while the other sectors receive investments worth EGP 1.8 billion, or 45.5%.

The report also highlights the main development targets for the housing sector in New Valley Governorate this year, which include directing EGP 275 million to drinking water and sanitation projects. In the local development sector, around EGP 178.9 million is allocated for paving local roads, and EGP 16.2 million is allocated for the reinforcement of the electricity networks in the governorate. The sector aims to implement 95 development projects.

Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, stressed that launching "Decent Life" initiative aims to support sustainable rural development, improve the living standards of citizens and develop the Egyptian countryside. She added that the initiative is in line with Egypt's 2030 vision, which aims to achieve sustainable development and improve the quality of life of Egyptian citizens.
