Egyptian Industries Federation's Food Industries Chamber has announced the launch of its "Green Path" initiative, in collaboration with the USAID-funded "Food for the Future" project.

The initiative aims to enhance agricultural businesses in rural Egypt, which is a crucial sector with a direct impact on the national economy, food security, poverty alleviation, and job creation in rural areas.

Mahmoud El-Bassiouny, the Executive Director of the Chamber, emphasized the importance of the agricultural manufacturing sector and the vital role it plays in ensuring food security and combating poverty.

The initiative is designed to support and train small and medium-sized companies operating in the agricultural manufacturing sector to comply with food safety requirements, thus improving the competitiveness of their products and facilitating their access to local, regional, and global markets, while maintaining investment growth rates and employment opportunities.

According to Riham Ghazy, the Director of the Chamber's Training and Business Development Department, due to the high demand for the Green Path initiative, the registration will reopen to accommodate a larger number of food facilities in the provinces.

She further added that the initiative has been expanded to cover 15 provinces, including Greater Cairo, the East, Alexandria, Beheira, Menoufia, Ismailia, Beni Suef, Asyut, Minya, Luxor, Qena, Aswan, Gharbia, Sohag, and Dakahlia.

FOOD INDUSTRY TO FURTHER PROGRESS

Egyptian food industries have seen significant progress in recent years, driven by a growing demand for food products domestically and abroad. The country has a rich history of agricultural production, with fertile land and a favorable climate, making it a leading producer of a wide range of food products.

In recent years, the Egyptian government has implemented policies aimed at supporting the growth of the food industry, including investments in infrastructure, the establishment of food processing zones, and the provision of financial and technical assistance to small and medium-sized enterprises.

As a result, the food industry in Egypt has experienced steady growth, with increasing exports of food products to international markets. The industry has also seen a rise in innovative and high-value-added food products, such as organic and healthy food options, that cater to changing consumer preferences.

With the launch of initiatives such as the "Green Path" initiative by the Federation of Egyptian Industries and the Food for the Future project, the country is poised to continue its growth trajectory in the food industry and contribute to the country's economic development.
