International Finance magazine, Global Finance, named now-resigned long-time Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) governor Tarek Amer as one of the world’s top Central Bank Governors for 2022 earlier this week.

Just a few hours ago, the presidency announced that Amer has resigned from his position as CBE governor and has been appointed by the president to be a presidential adviser.

Published annually by Global Finance since 1994, the Central Banker Report Cards grade central bank governors of 96 key countries, territories and districts including the European Union, the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, the Bank of Central African States and the Central Bank of West African States.

This will be the 4th consecutive year that Amer was listed on Global Finance’s Central Banker Report Card. Amer was given a “A-“ grade this year.
