Egyptian engineering industry exports up by 31% during Jan-May 2022

Exports from the engineering industry climbed by 25% in May 2022, reaching $264.7 million, compared to $211.7 million in May 2021

Egypt’s engineering industry exports recorded a 31% increase in the first 5 months of 2022 to hit $1.55 billion, this is compared to the same period in 2021 which recorded $1.18 billion, revealed the Engineering Export Council of Egypt’s (EECE) monthly report.

Exports from the engineering industry climbed by 25% in May 2022, reaching $264.7 million, compared to $211.7 million in May 2021.

The report noted that commodities within the industry that saw the highest increases in exports were electrical appliances by 52%, cables by 81%, car components by 6.1%, and household appliances by 14%.

Countries that upped their imports of Egyptian engineering products included the UK, Slovakia, France, German, Spain, the Czech Republic, Spain, Italy, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Iraq, Kuwait, Jordan and Lebanon.

Exports from the Egyptian chemical and fertilizer industries jumped by 33% in the first 5 months of 2022.
