The finance ministers of Egypt and Qatar have inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU), emphasizing their countries’ eagerness to strengthen bilateral relations within the economic and investments sectors.

On the sidelines of the Qatar Economic Forum, the MoU aims to boost joint cooperation between the two countries and coordinate financial visions, positions, and policies at the bilateral level and in international forums.

Both Egyptian FinMin Mohamed Maait and Qatari counterpart Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari discussed how they are working to create high-growth, low-emission, climate-resilient and poverty eradicating economies at the forum.

The agreement includes the exchange of expertise in the fields of taxation, customs and financial policies in a way that contributes to achieving economic and development goals.

There are currently 4,500 industrial collaborations between Egyptian and Qatari companies.

The signing comes just a day after Minister of Trade Nevine Gamea and Qatar’s Minister of Commerce and Industry Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al-Abdullah Al-Thani met to discuss ways to encourage Qatari businesses to engage in the Egyptian market.
