Egyptian companies take 4 spots on Forbes ME’s Top 50 Travel & Tourism Leaders

“Following one of the worst years the sector has ever seen,” the travel and tourism industry experience a revival in 2021, explained Forbes Middle East as it launched its Top 50 Travel & Tourism Leaders list this year.

The industry’s recovery has been significant. The magazine cited Jordan’s Queen Alia International Airport increased passenger numbers (up 112%) in 2021, and the hotel sector’s positive outlook by pointing towards Marriot International’s upcoming 25 new properties.

Egypt’s tourism sector’s own recovery has seen steady inclines, with the reopening of several tourism flight routes to tourism cities Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada.

While official data on 2021’s incoming tourism numbers hasn’t been released, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities have noted that the number of visitors steadily rose, and the demand for Egypt’s tourist destinations increased.

Leading Egypt’s four spots on the list was Amr Abuelenein, chairman and CEO of EGYPTAIR Holding Company, in 12th place. This was followed by real estate tycoon Hisham Talaat Moustafa, CEO and managing director of Talaat Moustafa Group Holding, in 27th place.

Holding Company for Tourism and Hotels’s (HOTAC) Executive Managing Director’s Adel Amin Wali took 30th, while Joachim Schmitt represented Orascom Hotels Management in 43rd place.
