The UAE is currently Egypt's largest trading partner in the Middle East, with trade recording $4.1 billion during 2020, compared to $3.36 billion in 2019.

Total Egyptian exports to UAE last year were announced as reaching $2.88 billion, compared to $2.51 billion in 2019, states Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea.

The UAE is currently the largest foreign investor in the Egyptian market, contributing to projects worth more than $7 billion, she added.

During a meeting with the new ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Egypt, Hamad Saeed Al Shamsi, Gamea highlighted the importance of enhancing relations that link the political leadership with Egypt and the UAE.

Pushing aspects of joint economic cooperation will contribute to growing bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in the sectors of trade, industry and investment, she added.

Al Shamsi, UAE’s new ambassador, pointed out the UAE’s eagerness to strengthen cooperation with Egypt, especially in light of the close strategic relations between the two countries, which are based on a long history of brotherly relations.

Egypt-UAE relations saw significant development during the past years in several major sectors, particularly in economic and commercial segments.

Al Shamsi praised Egypt’s development in various fields, including its many initiatives and projects, especially the New Administrative Capital project, which he said would be a model to be emulated on regional and international levels.
