How did you transform your practice from a single clinic to a famous franchise?

Let me first take you a few years back to how dentistry worked in Egypt. Not too long ago, patients would need to go to different clinics depending on the treatment they needed to receive and the specialty of each dentist, which wasn’t really a practical solution. Or they would visit a general practitioner who works all 9 specialties of dentistry together with no specific specialty.

From here I thought about the idea of starting a dental center that would bring together all 9 branches of dentistry, providing professional treatment by a diverse team of dentists, each an expert in their specialty. I believe this model serves best in terms of efficiency and also accelerating growth.

When you think about it, it would have taken me several years to build a reputation on my own, working in one branch of dentistry, while on the other hand, I managed to achieve exponential growth in fewer years with the support of a bigger team. Accordingly, my daily production, and the number of patients we received daily multiplied by folds.

It is also worth mentioning that we are witnessing the golden era of dentistry.

The cutting-edge technology we leverage in the latest medical equipment, in addition to the role of social and traditional media in building and strengthening a presence, are factors that help this model grow successfully.

But of course, this all wouldn’t have been achievable without a strong and qualified team. Patients come to us with expectations that we wouldn’t have been confident in meeting if it weren’t for the team behind this franchise.

How do you think the business of dentistry has changed over the past few years, evolving from necessity to cosmetic?

Nowadays, people have easier access to information and the latest updates in different fields, among which is dentistry.

Not too long ago, patients would visit a dentist only when they suffered from a problem that needed treatment, but nowadays, as more people undergo cosmetic procedures, the demand has increased.

I remember talking about this 10 years ago in one of the TV shows where I said that soon enough, cosmetic dentistry will no longer become a luxury but rather a necessity, especially since it doesn’t harm dental health.

Meaning, that there is no reason someone would resist undergoing a procedure that would give them a better smile when now we have the medical capability and see more people around us willing to make this change.

We pride ourselves as the very first to introduce cosmetic dentistry in Egypt, precisely in 2006, a time when cosmetic dentistry wasn’t much of a familiar term.

Recently, medical tourism has been growing in Egypt, especially for dental procedures. From your point of view, why Egypt in particular?

Setting the facts straight - qualified Egyptian dentists who hold high degrees and certificates are by far the best around the world, and that’s on a technical level. In terms of technological advancement, the majority of dental centers are highly equipped with the latest dental innovations, which is necessary to keep up with the fierce competition in the market.

These two elements are integral for us to gain the trust of patients coming from abroad. Needless to say, patients wouldn’t fly all the way from their home countries to Egypt if it weren’t for the good reputation that the doctor builds. It is our job as doctors and dentists to ensure we are exceeding the patient’s expectations by providing top-tier service and flawless treatment, supported by enough follow-ups and checkups in a timely manner before they go back to their country.

Additionally, the cost is significantly lower in comparison to a lot of countries around us, so patients receive top-tier treatments and world-class quality for a much lower cost within a time span of 10 to 14 days.

It is worth mentioning that dental services hold an average of 70% of medical tourism in Egypt, a share that wouldn't have been achievable if it weren't for the factors I discussed.

What sets your dental center apart from others in the market?

First and foremost, a good strategy is integral because a team without a strategy won't be able to succeed.

I, myself, am present on a daily basis, visiting all our branches to ensure things are running as they should. A keen eye for detail is integral; it is important not just to look at areas of accomplishment, but also those small details that need improvement before they escalate into problems.

A proactive approach and putting our patients’ satisfaction at the top of our priorities are what help us maintain a good reputation in the market. Most importantly, our team comprises 200 of the top dentists and professors in the industry, holding high degrees from different universities abroad.

What was a moment in your career in which you felt the most accomplished?

There are several actually; from being certified by the New York University in 2007 and receiving a trainer certificate in Digital Dentistry in 2017, to where we are now, providing our services to key public figures, ambassadors, and renowned businessmen. Honestly, I am proud of how far we’ve come, earning the trust of our patients is a testament to our commitment to delivering excellence.

For someone who might be struggling with the business side of the practice, what would your advice be?

As I mentioned previously, it is all about the team, no doctor can do it all alone.

So, for any dentist who wants to grow big and become a well-established name in the industry, investing in a qualified team is vital.

Additionally, on a financial level, good capital is important for a clinic to be highly equipped, especially that starting a dental clinic is costly.

One more piece of advice, it is important to manage your time efficiently in order to balance between the practical side and the business side of the profession.
