Medical and pharmaceutical industries’ exports up by 38.8% in 2022 | ECMI

For 2023, ECMI head George revealed that the council is aiming to boost exports by no less than 30%

Egyptian exports of medical and pharmaceutical industries jumped by 38.8% in 2022 to register $968 million, up from 2021’s recorded $697 million, according to the latest data from Egyptian Export Council for Medical industries’ (ECMI) Head, Maged George.

The ECMI head explained that the sector, which includes cosmetics, saw significant growth over the past three years, expanding by a whopping 200% when compared to 2019.

For 2023, George revealed that the council is aiming to boost exports by no less than 30%.

The African market is promising for the sector's products during 2023, he said, pointing out that there are still some obstacles that have to be dealt with but did not elaborate more on what they were.

George did note that six logistic centers will be opened in Kenya, Morocco, Mauritius, Nigeria, Zambia, and Algeria as part of a new strategy aimed at increasing Egyptian exports to the African market.
