New Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir is looking to launch tenders for 3 new industrial complexes next week, comprising 1,000 industrial units for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in 3 Upper Egypt governorates; Qena, Assiut and Aswan.

The 3 industrial complexes will center on chemical, engineering, food and pharmaceuticals as well as construction materials and textiles.

The tender is within the trade ministry’s plan to launch 17 new industrial complexes in 15 governorates at a total investment of EGP 10 billion.

Samir noted that the new complexes fall within the presidential initiative named “Your factory ready for licensing,” which aims to provide job opportunities for youths and help expand MSMEs, pointing out that this is one of his ministry’s top priorities.

The project aims at accelerating industrial development and promoting local industries through strengthening supply chains, with Samir adding that President Al-Sisi has offered substantial support for the project.

In his first official statement as minister, Samir expressed his eagerness to improve local industry, Egyptian products’ competitiveness in international markets, increasing export rates and expanding markets to which Egypt exports.
