A draft agreement between Egypt and the UAE on establishing a wind farm was finalized yesterday, explained Minister of Electricity Mohamed Shaker, with the deal to be inked after the upcoming Eid holiday.

The project’s details, which is projected to generate a capacity of 10 gigawatts, was announced after a meeting between Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and an Emirati delegation headed by UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology Sultan Al-Jaber.

The meeting also covered potential projects between the Egyptian and Emirati sides in the fields of building telecommunications towers.

During the meeting, Al-Jaber briefed Madbouly on recent results of consultations held as part of the recently-signed trilateral partnership between Egypt, the UAE and Jordan.

Egypt inked the partnership with its fellow countries in late May; dubbed the “Industrial Partnership for Sustainable Economic Growth,” it is a tripartite strategy that aims to support and boost industrial integration between the 3 countries. The supreme committee will be held later in July in Cairo to further discuss projects under its umbrella.

As part of the initiative, the UAE’s government allocated an investment fund of $10 billion for joint projects with Egypt and Jordan.
