MoIC reveals efforts in boosting gov’t employees capabilities in 2021 report

In line with its efforts to boost human capital, invest in capacity building and improve the effectiveness of the public sector, the Ministry of International Cooperation (MoIC) organized several training programs with various multilateral partners, the ministry wrote in a statement today.

In the past four years, the MoIC has implemented over 1,100 training programs in cooperation with China, benefiting 4,000 government officials, in addition to providing 25 specialized programs in priority sectors to support 300 government employees in health, population, agriculture, electricity and tourism.

The Ministry also organized, with the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, nearly 55 virtual training programs to build capacities in the fields of health, technical education, e-commerce, agriculture, modern irrigation technology, city planning and green transformation, as well as a number of master's and doctoral programs during the past year from prestigious Chinese universities.

MoIC senior staff attended an e-learning course, organized by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), in cooperation with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).

The “Integrated Recovery Planning and Policy Coherence Towards SDGs” course aimed to identify the key gaps that need to be closed to bring about change, with a particular focus on the COVID-19 pandemic, and to analyze effective engagement with stakeholders through assessing and mapping inter-sectoral interactions to identify strategic policy options for recovery and resilience to shocks.

Additionally, it provided examples of tools and methods for integrated planning and policy coherence, and conducted an assessment of the readiness of institutions for the coherence of institutional policies that are in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.

MoIC, within its framework of cooperation with German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), held a training program was held for executives on supporting productivity, decision-making and strategic leadership. Additionally, there was a series of interactive sessions and activities to enhance the spirit of teamwork and organizational culture.

During 2021, a training course on effective management of development finances was implemented in partnership with the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOIKA) and the Korean Institute for Development Strategies (KDS), for the research and technical teams in the Ministry.
