Hawai for Tourism and Investment, a leading company in real estate and tourism development, announced the launch of "Cairo Eye" project, the first observation wheel in Cairo and the largest wheel in the African continent. Cairo Eye will be located on the Nile River in the heart of Cairo, within proximity of major Egyptian touristic attractions and destinations, standing at 120 meters high.

In line with Egypt’s vision 2030 and the government’s strategic development plan across sectors, Cairo Eye project, set to launch in 2022, will be an iconic landmark of modern Cairo and the next tourist destination.

“The new project will be a true leap in the entertainment and tourism sector, resembling global landmarks in major capitals and countries.” Stated Mr. Ahmed Metwally, Chairman of Hawai for Tourism and Investment. “Cairo Eye project will attract millions of visitors annually and hundreds of thousands of tourists, enhancing the tourism sector greatly in Egypt as well as increasing the inflow of foreign currency.” He added.

Cairo Eye will be the largest wheel in Africa and the fifth largest wheel around the world after London, Dubai, Las Vegas and Singapore. The project, which is set to be an iconic landmark in Egypt, will offer a unique panoramic view of the city from a distance of 50 km and overlook Egypt’s landmarks. The wheel features 48 cabins with a capacity of 6-8 individual per cabin, and will target 2.5 million visitors annually. The new hub will offer an integrated touristic and entertainment destination, with the aim to provide a unique entertainment experience in the heart of Cairo.

“The project is designed with environmental aspects in mind; preserving all the park’s existing trees and palm trees, to remain true to the legacy and identity of Zamalek area. The design also aims to increase the total green spaces by 15% where total greenery will amount to 7,000 SQM instead of 6,100 SQM,” Metwally highlighted.

The project has put in place a carefully curated study to ensure traffic management and smooth flow of traffic to avoid congestion. Traveling to and from the Cairo Eye will be made easier with the Cairo Eye Nile Taxi, hop-on/hop-off Cairo Eye buses and a ground car park with a capacity of 500 cars.
